Enlarge text

When you zoom out from a chart so that you can see more of it, the text normally becomes too small to read. TreeDraw can enlarge the text which the mouse is over into a magnified box. You may want to turn this feature off and use the Magnifier instead.

Enlarge text when cursor over text

Select this option to turn the feature on. You can also turn the feature on or off from the Options menu or button bar.

Enlarge text when zoomed out past...

Enter the percentage zoom after which the feature becomes active; eg. with 80% entered here the text will only be enlarged if you are zoomed out 81% or more.

Use element font style

Set this option to show the enlarged text using the same font style as the text element which the cursor is over. The size of the enlarged text is set using the Font button. With this option turned off, the Font button defines both the style and the size of the enlarged text.

Font

Use this button to set the font style and size for the enlarged text. A sample is shown above the button.

Colour

Click on the Colour button to change the colour of the background for enlarged text. A sample is shown above the button.

Default width for new wrapped text

When you add a new text element with the "Word wrap" format, the width of the text element will start off at the value you enter here. The unit of measure is screen pixels at 100% zoom. You can still resize the text element after it has been added.

Display images

Turn this option off to prevent image elements being displayed. Images are displayed as blue dashed rectangles instead. If you have large (in terms of memory) images in your chart or if your PC or display is slow, you might find that TreeDraw will scroll the drawing area faster by turning this option off.

Display thick lines

TreeDraw allows you to use line styles which are in addition to the Windows standard line styles. These include thick dotted/dashed lines and doubled/circles/squares. On slower PCs these may take an appreciable time to draw, slowing down the display of the chart on the screen so you may want to turn this option off.

Handle size

Handles are the small squares which appear around the currently selected element. You can use the handles to resize chart elements. Choose the size for these handles to make using them easier. The default value is 7.

Page footer font

Click on the Change button to select the font used to print page footer text.

Snap to grid

TreeDraw lets you use a invisible or visible grid to align and place chart elements with precision. When the grid is on any elements that you create, move or resize will snap to the nearest grid intersection.

Grid on

Enables the snap-to-grid feature. You can also turn the feature on or off from the Options menu or button bar.

Grid visible

Displays the grid in the drawing area. The grid can be turned on but does not need to be visible.

Display as lines

If the grid is visible you can have it displayed as dotted lines or as single points at each grid intersection. Using points speeds up the display of the drawing area.

Make grid invisible when zoomed out more than ?%

To speed up the display of the drawing area, TreeDraw stops displaying the grid (although the grid is still functioning) if the drawing area is zoomed out more than this value.

Horizontal spacing / Vertical spacing

The distances between intersections of the grid in screen pixels. These settings are stored with each chart file (.TDR file). The vertical spacing may be changed optionally when importing a tree if the snap-to-grid is turned on at the time.

Get vertical spacing from selection

Click on the Get button to automatically set the grid vertical spacing to match the line spacing (the space between each line of text in a multi-line text element) of the currently selected text element(s). Selected elements must all have the same line spacing to enable this feature.

Colour

Click on the Colour button to change the colour used to display the grid in the drawing area. A sample is shown above the button.
